ABOUT THE FILM
Synopsis "Dayglass," a 30-minute short film, is an experimental fantasy about a forest dweller from the distant past who finds himself imprisoned on the sands of time. Quickly marked as a doomed man, he must get help from the other poor souls on the beach, if he has any chance of escaping in time.
Production Info The
idea for "Dayglass" was first born in the summer of
2006. Soren Laulainen and Austin Nokleby collaborated on a screenplay,
which was to be their senior project at Cogswell Polytechnical
College in Sunnyvale, California. They
wrote the story during the fall and winter, while casting, scouting
for locations and assembling their crew. After several months
of difficulties and setbacks, involving the casting of the lead
role, "Dayglass" began production in March 2007. Production
went smoothly for seven weeks. At the same time, they started
work on post-production, editing together the scenes they shot
the previous week. This continued until Soren and Austin graduated
from Cogswell Polytechnical College. They needed to move back
to their homes near Seattle, Washington, so production halted
for an indefinite amount of time. In September 2007, post-production resumed. Austin and Soren are editing together what they shot last spring and are working on script revisions. They plan to return to California in the spring of 2008 to finish what they started.
